Angamaly: KSRTC bus conductor who helped a woman passenger catch her alleged harasser and take him to police here said he felt off when the perpetrator chose to sit among women.

Upon entering the bus, the accused sat between two women. However, since they did not object, he refrained from intervening, said KK Pradeep, the conductor.

On Wednesday morning, a youth was arrested in Kochi for exposing himself to a young woman on a KSRTC bus. Savad Sha, a native of Kozhikode, is the arrestee. The incident took place at Angamaly on a bus from Thrissur to Kochi.

Pradeep has become a star on social media following the incident. In the video shot and shared by the complainant on social media, he was seen swiftly intervening in the matter and helping the woman. Many congratulated the woman for complaining and Pradeep for taking the “right action.” The conductor had asked the woman if she had a complaint. When she said yes, he asked the driver not to open the door and head to a police station. The complainant also thanked him for his help.

Pradeep said the incident occurred during traffic jam in Athani. Upon hearing the commotion, Pradeep approached the individuals. However, the accused vehemently denied the incident. Pradeep further explained that when he alighted the bus to inform the police, the accused assaulted him and attempted to flee. With the help of the driver, they apprehended the accused near the airport signal and handed him over to the police.

Pradeep stated that although there were approximately 60 people on the bus, none of them were willing to intervene or assist him and the driver at that moment.
