Fee for new passport waived for flood victims
Kozhikode: The central government has decided to waive the fee for allowing new passport to those who lost or damaged theirs in the flood havoc that hit Kerala.
People who lost or damaged their passports in the flood have to approach the nearest Passport Seva Kendra or the Regional Passport Office at Panampilly Nagar in Kochi. They need not remit neither the fee of Rs 1500 for renewing passport nor the fine of Rs 1500.
However, those who lost the passport need to submit a copy of the FIR from the police station as a proof. Also online registration is not mandatory for those who lost or damaged the passport in flood.
Regional Passport Officer Prasanth Chandran informed that the flood affected applicants will be allowed a new passport on the same day their application is filed. In case of any doubts or queries, the applicants can contact at the WhatsApp number 9447731152.
