Colombo: Fauzia Hassan, the Maldivian national who faced a jail term in the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) espionage case, died at her residence in Sri Lanka on Wednesday. She was 80.
Fauzia, who was later acquitted in the case, had to spend 3 long years from November 1994 to December 1997 inside a jail in Kerala.
She was very active in the film industry for almost 35 years. However, she was jailed in the 1994 ISRO espionage case, along with Mariam Rasheeda, the first accused in the case.
