Muttom: A family living under shack in the most unlikely circumstances, is struggling to cope with the hardship of life. To make it worse, the family is listed in the APL category despite struggling in poverty. Due to this, the family has been denied medical treatment for their ailing child diagnosed with a serious ailment.

Usha Chothi and her family are living in a makeshift shed on a plot of land in Muttom panchayat. She is sharing her shack with a family of five, which includes her son, daughter and her husband.

The 48-day-old baby of daughter Maya and her husband Vijesh was diagnosed with a rare condition where fluid accumulates in the brain. The infant can only be saved if emergency surgery is performed.

Currently, the infant is treated at Kottayam Medical College Hospital. However, as their ration card is in the APL category, there are not eligible to receive any government benefits. Due to the covid situation, the family is unable to go to work. The family hopes for a miracle and seeks the help of good hearted people.

A bank account has been opened in the name of ward members Bijoy John and Usha for the treatment of the baby.

The Account number is 120251200920087 (Muttam branch of Kerala Bank)
