Sabarimala: Pamba police have registered a case over Devaswom’s complaint that some entities swindled Rs 1.6 lakh from a devotee from Tamil Nadu, after issuing a fake receipt for offerings.
According to the complaint, a Chennai native paid Rs 1.6 lakh for pre-booking offerings like Kalabhabhishekam and Thanka Anki Charth for November 23 (during the next pilgrimage season). Entities issued him the receipt too. However, Devaswom’s scrutiny found that the receipt, seal and sign were fake.
The alleged incident happened on March 27. Chennai native has accused Manikantan and his aide Madhavan, who had been staying at a PWD rest house throughout the last pilgrimage season.
The case has been charged under the IPC sections 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 463 (forgery), 468 (forgery and cheating),469 (falsification of documents to disparage one’s status) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document or electronic record.)
