Kochi: The Angamaly police on Saturday arrested four people for allegedly printing and circulating fake currency notes. The arrested have been identified as Thravoor native Joshy (51), Jinto (37) from Nayathode, Jose (48) of Kanjur and Ajith (26) from Mulanthuruthy.
“The gang used to sell fake currencies worth Rs 50,000 on payment of Rs 25,000”, said the police.
Hundred fake notes of Rs 500 denomination and cash of Rs 1.25 lakhs were seized from them. Police busted the racket after raiding Joshy’s house at Angamaly. The raid was carried out based on a tip-off received by SP Vivek Kumar.
The police have also recovered a computer, printer, lamination machine, cutting blade, glue, filing paper, printing paper and partially printed papers from the house.
A comprehensive investigation will be initiated to nab the culprits behind the racket, said SP Vivek Kumar.
