Indulekha
Thrissur: The team probing the alleged murder of Thrissur woman Rukmini by her daughter Indulekha has found that mounting debts resulted in the crime.
Indulekha allegedly poisoned her mother to death on August 22 using rat poison. The initial reports said family dispute led to murder. Corroborating this, officials said that the extravagant life of Indulekha put her in financial difficulties and she was finding it difficult to repay. To settle the debt she wanted to sell off the house, but Rukmini opposed that plan.
The new development comes as officials quizzed Indulekha’s husband, family members and other relatives the other day.
According to police, Indulekha had mortgaged gold ornaments worth Rs 8 lakh to meet the expenses of a pompous life. She wanted to settle the debt by selling the house at Keezhoor. However, Rukmini opposed it. Indulekha was concerned because her husband who will arrive from abroad would come to know about her debts. As a result, she poisoned Rukmini, maintained the official.
