Thiruvananthapuram: The recently held Loka Kerala Sabha (LKS) was called out for its extravagance. Rs 83 lakh was spent just for the food and accommodation of the delegates, it is reported.
LKS held from January 1 to 3 here. Representatives from within the country and outside had participated in the event.
Breakfast for one person had cost Rs 550+tax, for lunch Rs 1900+tax and dinner Rs 1700+tax. The food was catered from a five-star hotel. Lunch at this rate was provided to a total of 700 persons, breakfast for 400 and dinner for 600.
For three days, Rs 60 lakh was spent for food alone and Rs 23 lakh for accommodation.
Accommodation was arranged at government guest houses, Muscat hotel and other five-star hotels here.
Even though the event was only for three days, accommodation was arranged from Dec 31 to January 4.
Another bill of Rs 4.5 lakh regarding security guards and drivers of the delegates was also passed.
