Extra marks were granted with knowledge of KT Jaleel: Chennithala
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala criticised Minister for Higher Education K. T. Jaleel in connection with the allegations that a student of MG University was granted extra marks to help him pass the university examination in which he actually failed.
The extra marks were granted with the knowledge of the minister and he confessed the same. What law was the basis of the minister’s intervention, Chennithala asked.
A serious corruption has come to light. We demand judicial probe into this. The minister has granted marks earlier also. Then he claimed that he did the same as part of a humanitarian move. How can a minister for higher education grant extra marks, Chennithala asked.
Jaleel claimed that the allegations are baseless, but he will need to regret for this in future. Intervention in administrative affairs is possible in universities, but not in academics. UDF will organise strong protests against this, Chennithala stated.
