The services of revenue, police, electricity and motor vehicle departments will also be available for the mission. The authorities have decided to issue an alert and impose section 144 of the CrPC at Santhanpara panchayat and some wards in the vicinity.
Traffic will be restricted at Chinnakanal and Bl Ram; and the residents at 301 colony and Singukandam will be relocated. The officials will safely take the children to school for exams.
Holidays have been declared for anganwadis and lower primary classes in the locality. The officials have demanded to deploy medical assistance, including two ambulances and a fire force team on account of the high-risk mission.
The authorities have decided to commence the mission at 4 am on March 25 and tranquilise the elephant before 11 am. If the jumbo could not be caught on the initial day, the mission would continue the next day. The dart gun will be fired only from the predetermined spots.
Video vloggers or locals will not be allowed to arrive at the spot.
Once caught, the elephant will be pushed to a heavy truck with the support of kumki elephants and shifted to the Kodanad Elephant Training Centre.
A meeting of officials from various departments, people’s representatives, plantation owners, and resort owners will be convened on Wednesday evening.
