Expat who raised suicide threat at quarantine centre found dead later


The authorities searched for him everywhere, but could not find him. Later, they used a drone to look for him and found his body in the marsh nearby on Tuesday by 6.30 in the evening.

Oachira (Kollam): An expat who raised a suicide threat in a quarantine centre was found dead in a wetland full of grasses. The deceased was identified as Santhosh Kumar (38), son of Kottarakkara native Madhavan Pillai and Saraswathi Amma.

Santhosh returned from Dubai on July 26 and was admitted to the Kaveri quarantine centre in Vallikkavu. He started showing mental instability and raised suicide threat on July 27 by 10.30 at night. Following this, the authorities contacted his family over phone.

The relatives informed that they would arrive in the morning to take him home. Though the man was told that his family would arrive in the morning, he did not pay attention and jumped from the first floor of the building and ran away.

The authorities searched for him everywhere but could not find him. Later, they used a drone to locate him and found his body in a marsh nearby on Tuesday by 6.30 in the evening. The body is kept at Parippally medical college hospital. Santhosh Kumar is survived by wife Ramya and daughter Devika.
