Malappuram: Marakkara panchayat near Valanchery resonates the message that failures are not moments for humiliation but a moment to start another journey towards success.

The panchayat has come up with an initiative named ‘Jayikkanayi thottavarkkopokkam’ which translates to ‘supporting the losers to win’ on Wednesday, the day after SSLC results was declared.

The first venture of ‘Jayikkanayi thottavarkkopokkam’ is an excursion of students who failed in the SSLC exam. The panchayat is planning to have it within a week. Parents of the students and representatives from civic groups will be part of it.

After that there will be a counselling session by mental health experts. It will have special games so that these students can get relief from the mental stress and disappointment.

The students will be identified by the ward councillors in a discreet manner. The name or details of the students will not be publicized. No visuals of the related happenings will be released.

According to panchayat president TP Sajna and vice president Umarali Karaekkad, history shows that those who began from failures are the ones who claimed big wins.

The panchayat will be assisting the students for their further studies.
