Kozhikode: Samastha, a Sunni organisation, has issued a strict order not to add the ideologies of Mujahid and Jamaat-e-Islami to the syllabus. The organisation said in a circular that teaching methods should be in line with the Indian situation and that the institutions should work in accordance with Samastha. The new move comes following the organisation’s dispute with the college coordination body Coordination of Islamic Colleges (CIC).

As per the instructions given to the colleges, those with Mujahid or Jamaat-e-Islami ideologies and atheists should not be appointed as teachers. The libraries used by students should only contain books with Sunni ideologies.

The instructions are applicable to articles in college magazines too. If the institutions teach Mujahid ideologies as part of the government syllabus, they should conduct special classes to revise the teachings, the organisation stated in the circular.

Students should be trained to understand Indian situations and conduct Islamic activities keeping in line the laws of the country, it said. If there are disputes in institutions, Samastha will have the final word on the issue, the circular stated.

The main complaint of Samastha was that CIC general secretary Hakeem Faizy was teaching Mujahid and Jamaat-e-Islami ideologies in institutions. Faizy was later expelled.
