Thiruvananthapuram: The excise department nabbed several drug peddlers in raids conducted across the state on Saturday.

The officials seized 1.90 grams of MDMA from a modelling artist, hailing from Cherthala, who sold illegal drugs at luxury hotels, parties and resorts. Officials suspect that the arrested individual belongs to a gang that distributes illegal substances at drug parties in Kochi.

The drug peddler used the name 'Snowball' to distribute drugs to customers. The peddlers board the customers' vehicles and travel from one place to another before delivering the drugs. The identity of the modelling artist came to light after police caught one of the intermediaries. The modelling artist was eventually caught while waiting for the intermediatory near Vytilla-Edapally national highway.

Meanwhile, officials seized LSD stamps from Karnataka native Ashuthosh Gowda during a vehicle inspection at the Tholpetty excise checkpost. Wayanad Excise officials arrested a Kozhikode native from Sulthan Bathery while travelling with 54.528 grams of MDMA to be sold in Kozhikode.
