Kochi: Actor Dileep, accused in the actress assault case of 2017, has approached the Supreme Court seeking instruction to complete the trial of the case on time. He also asked the court to direct the trial court that the witnesses who already have provided statements in the court should not be allowed to re-appear.
The actor accused the survivor and the prosecution of obstructing the trial court from concluding the trial. They are trying to extend the case till the judge gets a promotion to the higher court, he alleged.
Dileep argued in the plea that he was trapped in the case by a small yet powerful gang in the film industry. They have personal and professional grudges towards me. My former wife, the survivor and a DGP-ranking police officer are also responsible for framing me in the case, alleged Dileep.
The actor said the further probe in the case has resulted in a media trial against him as well as the trial court judge. He also questioned how the survivor can appear before the media and talk about a case that is under trial.
It is learnt that senior advocate Mukul Rohgati may appear for Dileep. Since Justice AM Khanwilkar who has been hearing the pleas related to the case in the SC has retired, the CJI has to select a new bench to hear the plea.
