Everyone except me seems to know about my Vattiyoorkavu bypoll candidature, says Kannan Gopinathan
Thiruvananthapuram: IAS officer Kannan Gopinathan, who resigned from service last month in protest against the restrictions and communication ban in Jammu and Kashmir, has responded to news surfacing on his possible candidature in the upcoming Vattiyoorkavu constituency bypoll. He took to Twitter and explained how it felt when everyone except him knows about his candidature.
During my school days everyone knew that I liked a girl, except the girl. The Vattiyoorkavu bypoll candidature is similar. Everyone knows except me, he tweeted.
On a lighter note, Kannan also said that he wrote the tweet in Malayalam, so that his wife wouldn’t read it.
😬— Kannan Gopinathan (@naukarshah) September 23, 2019
Meanwhile, CPM is in the run to regain its lost foothold in Vattiyoorkavu through this bypoll. While considering the possible names for candidature, Kannan was also included. His tweet comes in this wake.
Kannan IAS became a familiar name in in Kerala after his thoughtful actions during the floods that devastated the state in 2018. He was actively involved in rescue and rehabilitation works. In 2019, as the union government scrapped Article 370 that provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir, he resigned from service in protest over the clampdown.
