Kerala HC witnesses historic moment as 61-yr-old man, daughter enrol as lawyers

Ernakulam: A man and his daughter from Kakkad here enrolled as lawyers in the ceremony held at the High Court auditorium on the same day. Kakkad native PK Surendran (61) and his daughter S Ananya (24) arrived hand-in-hand at the ceremony on Sunday and enrolled as lawyers.

Surendran is happy that his dream to be an advocate came true at the age of 61. It also adds to his happiness that his younger daughter also enrolled with him on the same day. Surendran recalled how his Class 10 Chemistry teacher influenced him to become a lawyer. Most of his classmates are doctors and advocates.

" During my childhood, I thought that lawyers are extraordinary people," said Surendran

Surendran started his career as a teacher at Parallel College and later joined the co-operative bank as a clerk. He passed HDC & BM course while working and earned an executive MBA from the National Institute of Management Studies in Chennai. Surendran retired from Keechery Service Co-operative Bank in Arayankavu in 2018.

His younger daughter joined for BA LLB course at Sree Narayana Law College in Poothotta during this time. Interestingly, Surendran joined for LLB course at the same college.

Surendran's wife Radhalakshmi, elder daughter Amritha and other close family members were present during the enrollment.
