Kochi: In a freak accident, a 92-year-old man died after slipping over toilet waste dumped on the roadside and hitting his head on road at Kannamaly here on Monday. The deceased is identified as PA George, a native of Kattiparambu.
The tragic accident occurred on Monday morning. The pedestrians found George unconscious in the drainage sump in front of his house. The drainage was filled with septic tank waste. It is learnt that spilling from it caused the accident.
The deceased has been staying alone in his house. He used to walk to the church every morning. It is assumed that he met with the accident while going to church around 5:30 AM. The police visited the spot and completed inquest procedures.
The locals have been complaining to the authorities about the waste dumping issue in the region for a long time. Some even alleged that George's death is not an accident. According to them, George might have restricted the parties who are dumping waste and they might have attacked him in vengeance.
