It really didn’t matter for tea seller and travel buff KR Vijayan aka Balaji who passed away on Friday due to heart attack , whether his destination was Ernakulam or Russia. He was only determined about going places. Neither age nor the efforts to make money for meeting travelling expenses was a roadblock for Balaji. From one destination to another he covered more than 25 countries across six continents along with his wife Mohana.
Kochi: It really didn’t bother the tea seller and travel buff K R Vijayan aka Balaji who passed away on Friday, whether his destination was Ernakulam or Russia. He was always determined. Neither age nor the expenses were a roadblock for Balaji. From one destination to another, he covered more than 25 countries across six continents along with his wife Mohana.
Balaji’s interest in travel started with his trip from Cherthala to Ernakulam. His wish was just to see Ernakulam. On his visit, Vijayan was amused to see skyscraping buildings. With that, another destination engulfed his mind- Madras (now Chennai), and it almost progressed like a chain reaction with new destinations finding a place in his bucket list.
He got married to Mohana from Ernakulam. The trip to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh turned into a fascinating moment in their life. Their recent trip was to Russia.
