Thiruvananthapuram: CPM central committee member EP Jayarajan has left for the state capital to attend the crucial state secretariat meeting of the party in which the allegation of his illegal assets will be discussed.

Jayarajan will get a chance on Friday to explain his version of the story. His colleague and former Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan has allegedly accused in the party committee meeting that EP Jayarajan accumulated wealth by investing in an Ayurvedic resort in Kannur.

P Jayarajan was asked to give his complaint in writing. The central leadership has asked the state leadership to handle the issue.

If the secretariat feels the explanation is unsatisfactory, it may engage a probe commission to look into the matter. The findings of the report will be discussed and handed over to the higher committee if needed.

It is also possible that the state secretariat would amicably solve the matter.

However, if it fails to do so, the final call will be taken by the central committee.
