Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state president K Surendran alleged that Sports Minister EP Jayarajan’s son had received Rs 1 crore in the Life Mission project. He also urged CPM to react to this allegation.
The CPM party leaders had boasted of a central agency probe based on the letter written by the Chief Minister. They had said that NIA and Enforcement Directorate (ED) are probing the case because CM wrote to the Prime Minister. But now they have accused ED because the probe has started hunting down big sharks.
Apart from Higher Education Minister KT Jaleel, evidence has surfaced against the second minister in the Cabinet. Name of Jayarajan’s son has surfaced in connection with the Life Mission scam linked to Swapna Suresh, the accused in the gold smuggling case, Surendran alleged.
“The CPM party channel itself had said that the commission for the Life Mission project was Rs 4.5 crore. Only Rs 1 crore was found in Swapna’s bank locker. It is being said that the rest of the money went to Jayarajan’s son. Hence they have taken a public stance against ED. For the past two months the CPM was saying the probe was in the right direction and let the central agencies probe. But now they have taken a U-turn and accused ED,” he further stated.
The Chief Minister should react to this accusation raised by the CPM secretariat. Does the CM officially accept the CPM state secretariat’s allegation? The public wishes to know this, Surendran added.
