Enough schools but only a few opt for higher secondary studies in Pathanamthitta
Kodumon: So far, the cumbersome task of finding students to avert division fall was considered to be a burden of primary and high school teachers. However, recent trends show higher secondary teachers too are no exception.
In Pathanamthitta district, a good number of government and aided schools are struggling to find enough students to prevent division fall in Higher Secondary Section.
In the state, Pathanamthitta has the most number of vacant seats and nearly 30 schools in the district have reported shortage of students in higher secondary section.
After two rounds of main and first round of supplementary allotments, 1538 seats remain vacant at different schools in the district.
The actual number will go above 2000 if we take a list of vacant seats in unaided schools and managements seats in aided schools.
For instance, only 11 admissions have been so far registered at school that launched in 2015 at Malayalapuzha, where 120 seats are allotted.
