Singapore: A Keralite too figures in the list of persons who have been named in the Panama papers. George Mathew, a native of Thiruvananthapuram and a well-known face in Singapore, has figured in the list of Indians.
However, reacting to the news, George Mathew revealed that he had shifted his base to Singapore 12 years back and the RBI rules or laws of Indian tax structure does not apply to him.
Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan, whose name also figured in the Panama Paper leaks as allegedly having links with offshore entities in two tax havens, denied any connection with those companies, saying his name may have been "misused".
After the first list, Prime minister Narendra Modi had ordered a multi-agency probe team on the expose, conducted by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) along with over 100 global media organisations, dubbed the "Panama Papers”.
