'Irumudikkettu' should not contain plastic materials: HC

Kochi: The High Court has ordered that the 'irumudikkettu' carried by Sabarimala pilgrims should not contain plastic materials.

The division bench also said that the temples where 'irumudikkettu' is prepared as well as other states should be given directions in this regard.

The High Court had said the other day that the efforts to make Sabarimala plastic free were not successful. It had said that there should be steps to implement complete ban on plastic at Sannidhanam, Nilakkal, and Erumeli. When plastic bottles are banned, safe drinking water should also be made available, it had said.
