EC rejects BDJS' symbol

The Election commission has informed that Vellapally Natesan's newly formed Bharat Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) will not be allotted the "folded hands" symbol.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Election commission has informed that Vellapally Natesan's newly formed Bharat Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) will not be allotted the "folded hands" symbol.

Though the party cannot use the symbol during elections, it can use it in all other occasions, the Election Commission said.

The Election commission had received a complaint from the Congress regarding the symbol of Bharat Dharma Jana Sena. The Congress party's complaint was that the folded hands symbol should not be allotted to BDJS as it has resemblance with the Congress party symbol.

The Election commission norms say that symbols that are similar to symbols of other parties should not be permitted.
