The gang has killed 20 elephants in the forests on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border.

Thekkadi: A gang of elephant poachers who have killed 20 pachyderms has been nabbed by Forest officials. Kubendran and Singam Nagu of Theni and mediator Kambam Medu Babu are the gang members.

The gang has killed 20 elephants in the forests on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. They sold 200 kg of tusks till last February. Two guns and a Tata Indica car have been seized from them.

The gang was caught following investigation conducted based on phone call records of Aji Bright, who was arrested in connection with the Malayattoor elephant poaching case. They have confessed to poaching elephants in Meghamala, Ooty, and Kunoor.

They were nabbed by officials from the Periyar East forest division.
