Kochi: The High Court has dismissed the petition submitted by Adv Dhanesh Mathew Manjooran seeking to quash the FIR against him in a molestation case. Police told the High Court that the charge sheet in the case had been filed after completing probe. The HC then dismissed the advocate's plea making it clear that the request to quash the FIR held no relevance as the charge sheet had already been submitted.
The police told the HC that the charge sheet had been filed in the trial court and also requested that the FIR not be quashed, which was approved by the High Court.
The police completed the investigation in the case in just 18 days. The case had been handed over to a special team led by Ernakulam Women's Cell CI Radhamani earlier.
The charge sheet was filed in the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court- II, Ernakulam. Adv Dhanesh was booked under charges of insulting womanhood and spreading rumours.
The case pertains to the allegation that Adv Dhanesh, Government Pleader in the High Court, tried to molest a woman who was walking alone on the road. However, he has not been removed from the post of Government Pleader even after submission of charge sheet.
