Thiruvananthapuram: Following resignation of Anju Bobby George from the Sports Council President post, the name of former council president T P Dasan is doing rounds to be the next person to head the organization.
Though ex-MLA V Sivankutty’s name was considered for the post earlier, reports suggest that T P Dasan will come back to the helm.
T P Dasan, who served as the Council President during the time of the previous LDF government, had faced allegations on irregularities in the Sports Lottery Scheme. Anju and former Sports Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan had raised serious criticisms against the LDF government in this matter.
Meanwhile, the government is planning to form an ad hoc committee involving DYFI leader O.K. Vijeesh, Archery Federation office bearer M R Ranjith and Gymnastic Association leader Sasidharan, for the smooth functioning of the Council. The decision to form ad hoc committee comes in the wake of mass resignation of Council members.
However, the district councils have decided not to tender their resignations now. The district councils were reconstituted at the time of the UDF government.
