Perumbavoor: There are 38 injuries on Jisha’s body, the final post-mortem report has revealed.
The report also points to possible rape attempt. However, this can be confirmed only if the internal organs are subjected to further examinations.
Alappuzha Medical College authorities have handed over the post-mortem report to police.
Suspect pleads innocence
The person who was nabbed from Kannur in connection with the murder of a law student in Perumbavoor has pleaded innocence before police, saying he was under rest after a surgery for hernia.Also, the police said the suspect’s fingerprints do not match with those obtained from the crime scene although the sketch of the suspect prepared by the police bore some similarities.
The 26-year-old man, however, had been booked in a ganja-related case a few days ago, the police said.
The youth is said to have disappeared from the area the next day after the murder took place. An analysis of data from the mobile tower showed that the suspect was present near the victim’s house at the time of the murder.
He was taken into custody from Kannur after subsequent investigation. He was brought to Aluva today morning and then shifted to a secret place for further questioning.
He reportedly told police that he left his native place due to the humiliation suffered after the ganja case.
The suspect is being grilled by Ernakulam Range IG Mahipal Yadav, Aluva Rural SP Ratheesh Chandra and Perumbavoor DySP Anil Kumar. Nearly seven people are under police custody in connection with the case.
