Thiruvananthapuram: Amidst the ongoing protest of fisherfolks against the Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited, a group of noted personalities from various fields has written to the Kerala Government seeking completion of the project.
The signatories include professor MK Sanu, industrialist Kris Kopalakrishnan, writers M Mukundan, K Satchidanandan, NS Madhavan and Sethu, actors Jagadeesh and Maniyanpilla Raju, former civil servants TKA Nair, TP Sreenivasan, KM Chandrasekhar, Paul Antony and Jiji Thomson among others.
The letter, signed by around 80 people, was prepared by the Trivandrum Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The letter noted that the demand to stop the construction of the port with the government taking a favourable stance towards the protesters is against the interest of the state. The violence by the protesters is condemnable, the letter read.
The letter also calls for immediate implementation of the promises made to the fisherfolks of Vizhinjam to end the stalemate.
