Minister for Industries and Sports E P Jayarajan said that MP Veerendra Kumar’s demise was shocking. “He had called me yesterday to express condolences over the demise of my sister,” the minister said. He is a great leader whose contributions played a huge role in making Kerala what it is today. His contributions to the state and its people are invaluable, the CPM leader added.

Leader who supported common man – A Vijayaraghavan

We have lost a leader who had always intervened in the issues of the people and strongly stood for the common man. He was a leader who stood tall in all his activities by holding the Socialist tradition high.

Most respected and loved person - Oommen Chandy

Chandy said that Veerendra Kumar was a multifaceted personality and excelled in whatever roles he played.

"He had several caps and in every field he was a shining star and was a hugely successful person.. We, in our political journey, at times were together and at times, we were in the opposite camps, but I had the highest regards for him always," he added.

Lost a close friend - Kummanam Rajasekharan

BJP leader and former Mizoram Governor Kummanam Rajasekharan said that MP Veerendra Kumar’s demise marked the end of an era. We have lost a great leader who devoted his life for what he believed in without falling for power. I feel like I lost a close friend,” he added.

Lost a close friend and a teacher – A K Antony

Congress leader and former defence minister A K Antony remembered meeting MP Veerendra Kumar for the first time.

"When I was the President of the Kerala Students Union in 1964, I met him first and thus began a long journey with him, even though we belonged to different parties. It was just two days back I spoke to him and he looked cheerful. Now the reality is he is no more, I have lost a close friend," he said.

MP Veerendra Kumar was a unique personality in social and cultural circles. I was shocked to learn about his demise. I had spoken to him just two days ago. A very active political-social and cultural figure, his contributions are highly valuable.
