Eluding customs, TVM native smuggles hashish oil in guise of biofertilizers to Maldives

Thiruvananthapuram: Evading the security checks of Customs officials, the notorious hashish oil has been smuggled via the international airport in Thiruvananthapuram. Four persons were arrested in Maldives for sneaking hashish oil to Maldives in the air cargo. All the four accused were Maldivian citizens who reached to take over the cargo from the airport.

The narcotic drug hashish oil was concealed along with the biofertilizers parcelled in Maldives airlines from Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. A Mettukada native who has the licence for export had allegedly smuggled 3.5 kilograms of hash oil to Maldives.

A comprehensive investigation has been initiated in the case which brought disgrace to the Customs. Though the Customs officials attempted to arrest the accused who smuggled the hashish oil, he escaped and is on the run now. The officials are trying to nab the autorickshaw driver who carried the parcel to the airport.

The Customs had identified the accused from the address written over the parcel that was seized at the airport in Maldives.
