Elephant herd spotted at Pandithavalam
Sabarimala: A herd of elephants were seen roaming near Paandithavalam and the local people bursted crackers to scare away the pachyderms. Elephant herd was seen for the second time near Paandithavalam during the pilgrimage season. There were 8 elephants, including 3 calves. The elephants destroyed the Dakshina Mandapam and the other day a shed was also destroyed. Pilgrims usually visit Uralkuzhi and Paandithavalam after dusk.
For pilgrims attention
Pilgrims have been advised to avoid coming via Pullumedu after the stipulated time.
Those coming through Pullumedu are advised to come only by the allotted route. They should avoid the forest areas.
In forests and surrounding areas, photography should be avoided and pilgrims must not spend much time.
Those coming via Erumeli, Azhutha, Karimala should be careful trekking this path. There is a ban on continuing journey after Karimala after 6 pm. This ban has been enforced considering the safety of pilgrims.
