Elephant goes berserk in Thiruvilwamala temple, one injured
Thrissur: In a shocking incident, an elephant named Adattu Paramu aka Panacherry Parameshwaran turned violent at the Thiruvilwamala temple here on Thursday. A man who was riding the elephant fell down and suffered minor injuries.
The elephant is belonging to the Thiruvilwamala Vilwadrinatha temple.
The elephant turned violent and ran amok when preparations were in progress for the ‘Kazcha Seeveli’ ritual at the temple.
Kuniseri Swaminathan who is reportedly a staff in the temple had a narrow escape after falling from the elephant.
Visuals of the horrific incident have been trending on social media.
The video featured Swaminathan falling to the ground and having a narrow escape from getting stamped by the elephant. He was rushed to a private hospital after suffering minor injuries.
The elephant squad and social forest officials brought the elephant under control after taking efforts for more than one hour. The violent jumbo also destroyed the ‘Deepasthambam’ at the temple.
Amidst this, mahouts at the temple manhandled Mathrubhumi reporter Siji Govindan for recording the visuals. They allegedly tried to destroy the mobile phone used by the reporter for recording the visuals.
