
Thiruvananthapuram: The present ration cards will be made ‘smart’ by replacing them with ATM card-sized ones from Tuesday onwards. It can be used as an identity card as well.
Availing this option is not compulsory as of now and the current ration cards can still be used.
The new cards vary in pattern and size.
The front side of the card will show the photo of the cardholder, a barcode and a QR code whereas the other side carries the information regarding monthly income, the code of the ration store and whether the house has an electricity connection and LPG gas connection.
Those who need smart ration cards can apply online through Akshaya Kendras or Citizen Login. It does not require a fee. Minister GR Anil will inaugurate the project at 11 am on Tuesday at Thiruvananthapuram Press Club.
An account needs to be created on the Citizen Login portal of the Civil Suppliesto apply for the card. Aadhaar number, ration card number, mobile number and email id are compulsory to create the account.
SupplyCo expands home delivery system to 530 outlets
SupplyCo will expand the home delivery system to 530 outlets and delivery boys will be appointed to deliver items within 24 hours for this, authorities informed. A mobile application will be designed for this purpose and a delivery fee will be charged separately.
A company to design the app will be selected through a tender this week itself. Non-subsidised items will be delivered to the home initially. A government nod is required to deliver the subsidized items. In addition to groceries, home appliances will also be available in the SupplyCo outlets that sell them.
