Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has submitted an application to Central Electricity Regulatory Commission to increase the electricity tariff from April 1 onwards. The board have proposed the revised rates for the next four years.

For FY2023-24, the board has requested an increase of Rs 40 paisa per unit. The final decision will be taken after a hearing by the commission.

Meanwhile, the commission is aware that the state electricity board will suffer Rs 2939 crore as a revenue deficit. Therefore, the board expects a favourable stand-by commission on their demands.

In the last financial year, the commission approved a 7 per cent increase proposed by the board.
