Thiruvananthapuram: The Election Commission corrected the local body election results published in their official website following a complaint filed by the CPM.
The title showing ‘the local bodies won by political fronts’ has been changed to ‘the number of wards won by political fronts’. Earlier, it was marked as UDF has upper hand in the election to municipalities. This also was changed following the complaint.
The election officers had faced some technical issues in updating the figures that was officially given from some places in the last hours of counting day. With this, the result was published as LDF won 35 municipalities and UDF won 45.
As this is wrong, the officials were given new passwords to correct them, but the technical glitches were not solved. Following this, the number of local bodies was replaced with number of wards won.
Among the 3077 municipal wards, LDF won 1167 wards and UDF won 1172. Others won 414 wards. As this includes the rebel candidates of LDF and UDF, the figures 35 and 45 are likely to change.
The final numbers can be published only after getting information from the district levels. The decision of rebels is crucial in case of the hung local bodies.
