Idukki: An elderly woman and her two grandchildren drowned after falling into a water-filled quarry in Idukki's Pannikkankudi on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Elsamma (50), hailing from Kombodinjal in Konnathadi Panchayat, and her grandchildren Anna Sara (11) and Ameya (9).
The children were helping their grandmother wash clothes in the water here. Elsamma and Ameya met with an accident while trying to rescue Ann Maria, who fell into the quarry waters.
They were pronounced dead by the time locals rushed them to Adimali Taluk Hospital.
