Kannur: An elderly woman was allegedly beaten up by her granddaughter in Kannur, following which the city police registered a case against granddaughter Deepa of Uppalavalappu.
The visuals of Deepa brutally beating grandmother Kalyani were widely circulated on social media.
Kalyani is the mother of Deepa’s mother Janaki. The visual shows Kalyani wailing after being beaten up by Deepa. Deepa, Janaki and Kalyani were staying at the house.
There are reports that the three have been suffering from mental illness. Police and health department officials have reached their house. Kalyani and Deepa will be subjected to medical examination later.
An NGO named ‘Athani’ has agreed to take care of Kalyani and Janaki.
