Shahrukh Saifi

NewDelhi: Shahrukh Saifi, the culprit in the Elathur train fire case, is a follower of Islamic extremists, says NIA.

As per the statements given by NIA, the perpetrator follows the preachings of Pakistan-based religious leaders including Tarik Jameel, Israr Ahamed and Taimur Ahamed.

The agency had carried out search operations in 10 different locations in Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh as part of their investigation.

NIA is looking into the possibilities of ‘terrorist links’ to the incident.

Officials recorded Shahrukh’s statements, and carried out search operations in locations including his residence in Delhi. They are yet to confirm whether Sharukh’s gory act in the train was motivated/supported by Islamic extremists.

NIA is questioning several people in connection with the case. Laptops, mobile phones and hard disks have been seized. Further action will be taken as per the findings.
