Eight succumb to fever in state today


Spread of fever has been reported across the state and 12 lakh people have sought medical assistance yet.

Thiruvananthapuram: The outbreak of fever has claimed eight lives in the state on Saturday.

The victims include two children and a military personnel.

While Amal Krishna (11) of Vellayani in Thiruvananthapuram succumbed to dengue fever, 10-year-old Ayisha Sana died in Palakkad. Ayisha, a fourth standard student, was undergoing treatment at Thrissur Medical college.

Gowrishankar Kanpal, a military personnel hailing from Uttar Pradesh, died in Thiruvananthapuram.

A 34-year-old pregnant woman died of H1N1 at Vadakara. The woman, Nisha, was admitted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.

This year, 115 people have fallen victim to fever so far. Spread of fever has been reported across the state and 12 lakh people have sought medical assistance yet. Of them, 6808 were tested positive for dengue.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala will meet the Chief Minister on Sunday seeking measures on a war footing to tacke fever cases.
