Eid-ul-Fitr: Oppn demands to change school reopening to June 6
Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala and UDF leaders gave a letter to chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and minister for education Prof. C. Raveendranath demanding to change the date of school reopening from June 3 to June 6 in view of Eid-ul-Fitr celebration.
The government had decided to reopen schools after summer vacation on June 3. It is noted in the letter that as the Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to fall on June 4 or 5, it is ideal to change the date of school reopening to June 6.
The letter was jointly submitted by opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, UDF leaders Dr. M. K. Muneer, P. J. Joseph and Anoop Jacob.
