Kochi: Continuous efforts are being made to spread ISIS ideologies in the state. It is hinted that National Investigation Agency (NIA), in an investigation conducted in connection with the terrorist attack in Sri Lanka, has found more evidences validating this. As per reports, a few Keralaites in Tamil Nadu are under NIA monitor.
IS activities are mainly concentrated in Madurai and Namakkal in Tamil Nadu. Meetings were convened here to recruit for ISIS and some Keralites had taken part in it.
NIA has obtained the videos of Zahran Hashim, who is believed to be the mastermind of Sri Lankan church attack, teaching ISIS ideologies to Tamil and Kerala youth. NIA team from Kochi conducted inspection in various parts of Tamil Nadu as per information obtained from Riyas Aboobacker who was arrested from Palakkad.
It is known that the investigation of the murder of Pattali Makkal Katchi leader Ramalingam in Thanjavur had led to the ISIS influence here. Hard disks, pen drives, CDs were found from offices of different associations.
NIA believes that there are widespread efforts for ISIS recruits from Kerala. For this various associations and clubs are being formed at regional level. The Sri Lankan Intelligence had informed NIA of finding certain paper printed in Tamil at the attack site. It is known that the explosives required for the bombings were brought to Sri Lanka at different times.
