Thiruvananthapuram: The National Nursing Council has extended the last date for admission to the nursing courses till March 31 considering the demand of some states. The last date has been postponed as the admissions for the medical and related courses are delayed in the country.

The students who are waiting for nursing admission will be losing a year due to the lag. The degree courses in other universities have already completed a semester.

The LBS which manage admissions to the government colleges for nursing have completed three allotments till date. But, further procedures were halted as the National Nursing Council has not declared the admission schedules.

The management associations have finished six allotments to the management seats. Though the admission procedures are almost completed, classes have not yet started.

The extension of the admission date will be helpful for the colleges that requested for increase in the number of seats. The government, nursing council and Health university are considering the applications of over 25 colleges to increase the number of seats.
