Edavela Babu switches sides in actress attack case
Kochi: Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (A.M.M.A) general secretary Edavela Babu switched side in the actress attack case while testifying at the court.
Earlier, Edavela Babu had told the police that “The attacked actress had complained to A.M.M.A. that Dileep, the eighth accused in the case, had intervened to deny her of work opportunities.”
However, A.M.M.A had said that the actress had not filed any written complaint. Babu’s statement countered this stance.
“I felt the complaint was genuine. I held a discussion with Dileep in this regard. I asked him why he was intervening in matters unnecessarily. During a stage show, there was a clash between the actress and Dileep following which the relationship between Kavya Madhavan, wife of Dileep and the actress became strained.
On Thursday, Edavela Babu told the court that he doesn’t remember the actress complaining of Dileep hindering her opportunities. Following this the prosecution declared him of switching sides.
Dileep was ousted from A.M.M.A earlier, but was reinstated after he was let off on bail. Following this four actresses had left the association including the attacked actress.
The actress had said that the decision to quit the association was after A.M.M.A took no action even after she complained about Dileep hindering her work opportunities.
