New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate is all set to take up arms against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the gold smuggling case. According to reports, the ED will submit the confidential statement of gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh before the Supreme Court.
The statement will not be publicised in court. ED will submit Swapna's statement in a sealed cover before the apex court.
It is learnt that ED took the move as per the advice of senior lawyers of central government.
On Wednesday, ED approached the Supreme Court seeking to transfer the gold smuggling case to Bengaluru from Ernakulam district sessions court. In this petition, ED has expressed willingness to submit the confidential statement related to the gold and dollar smuggling case.
On June 6 and 7, Swapna had given a statement under 164 (5) of the Criminal Procedure Code before a magistrate and she herself revealed bits and pieces of it, which included an explosive one against Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, his wife and their daughter indulging in smuggling gold and currency.
