Thiruvananthapuram: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will be interrogating more Customs officials in connection with the case in which the chief minister’s former principal secretary M Sivasankar intervened to get back the parcel that arrived via Shipping Cargo.

Earlier, the ED had questioned two Customs officials in this regard and their statements were recorded. The ED found that Sivasankar made intervention to release the cargo. This was informed in the court too.

By interrogating the Customs officials, the ED officials will try to find out more details about Sivasankar’s involvement and doubts if the cargo actually contained bottled water or gold. The cargo arrived in Kochi on April 2 last year. The parcel was addressed to UAE consulate.

Though the assessing officer directed to inspect the cargo due to suspicion, the cargo was later released without undergoing any check. ED found that Sivasankar contacted the Customs officials as requested by Swapna Suresh, the accused in gold smuggling case.
