Kozhikode: Even after the marathon interrogation, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seems unsatisfied over the answers of MLA K M Shaji. The second round of questioning started on Wednesday morning and ended by 1.45 am on Thursday. However, the officials will continue with interrogation after few days.
Meanwhile, K M Shaji told the media that he has full confidence that he gave the right answers to all questions. ED has asked to appear before them within 10 days along with some documents, he added. They asked about the luxury house, and the details of passport and foreign trips, he added.
The ED officials quizzed the MLA on the basis of a pre-planned questionnaire. ED had already served notice to many regarding interrogation and recording of statements. As part of this, K M Shaji's wife Asha and Muslim League leader Ismail also were summoned.
The ED interrogated Shaji regarding the complaint that he received bribe for allotting Plus Two batch in a school in Azhikode in 2014. Kannur block panchayat president Padmanabhan had filed the complaint. ED collected information regarding the financial deals and people involved in it.
As part of the investigation, the corporation had measured Shaji's houses in Kozhikode and Kannur as directed by the ED. They found that the house were constructed illegally and handed over a report to the ED.
The estimated value of the house is Rs 1.62 crore. Meanwhile, Kozhikode Vigilance Court ordered for a probe against K M Shaji on the basis of a complaint filed by social worker and legal expert Adv A R Hareesh.
