Bengaluru: Accompanied by advocates, Binoy Kodiyeri made an effort in vain to visit his brother Bineesh Kodiyeri, who has been arrested and is under custody, at the Enforcement Directorate office here on Friday.
Binoy Kodiyeri came to the ED office along with advocates to visit his brother Bineesh. The ED officials denied permission and they waited outside the office. But after waiting outside for over 30 minutes, the officials did not budge. Binoy’s advocates later had an argument with the ED officials following which the ED sought the help of local police. Soon after, Binoy and team returned from the ED office without visiting Bineesh.
The ED officials took the stance that no visitors can be allowed as Bineesh’s arrest has been recorded. But Binoy stood firmly outside the office with an intent to visit Bineesh. The ED officials took a stance that Binoy and team can wait as long as they want and return. Later, the ED officials came out to talk to the advocates who accompanied Binoy. One of the ED officials informed the advocates that nobody will be allowed to visit Bineesh. Following this, the advocates got into an argument with the ED officials. The officials clarified that their stance was based on the law.
As Binoy and the advocates refused to back off, the ED sought the help of local police and asked the cops to remove Binoy and team from the office. Following this, Binoy and the advocates returned without visiting Bineesh Kodiyeri.
The ED officials informed Binoy that they would get a chance to meet Bineesh on the court premises on Monday. While returning from the ED office, Binoy or the advocates did not respond to the media.
On Thursday, Binoy had met Bineesh on the court premises. On Friday, Binoy came to the ED office to hand over clothes. It was when Binoy tried to visit Bineesh again that the ED denied permission.
