Kochi: Enforcement Directorate stated that M Sivasankar handed over several confidential documents to Swapna Suresh via WhatsApp. ED also stated that black money transactions took place in the gold smuggling and Life Mission cases adding that both cases are interlinked.
ED stated this in the court while seeking extension of Sivasankar’s custody period.
The court asked ED why they are investigating the Life Mission case in the midst of a money-laundering probe in connection with the gold smuggling case. ED responded that both the cases are interlinked and that black money transactions took place in Life Mission and gold smuggling cases. However, Sivasankar’s lawyer stated that there is no connection between ED’s case and Life Mission project allegations.
Sivasankar handed over important details regarding K-FON and Life Mission projects to Swapna Suresh, said ED alleging he has admitted to it.
ED also told the court that Sivasankar failed to provide convincing answers to many questions. The WhatsApp chats between Swapna Suresh and Sivasankar have been retrieved. Sivasankar has sent many important documents regarding Life Mission project to Swapna Suresh through WhatsApp. The officers informed the court regarding the details of these documents. Following this, the court extended Sivasankar’s custody period to Wednesday morning 11 am.
Meanwhile, the Customs department is planning to arrest Sivasankar in connection with Dollar smuggling case.
